Review: Rachamankha Hotel, Chiang Mai
The Rachamankha Hotel is the leading luxury boutique hotel in Chiang Mai.
It's in a prime location: right next to Wat Phra Singh, the most famous temple in Chiang Mai, but you would never guess you were in such a popular location: the Rachamankha is peaceful and tranquil.
We stayed for two nights and this is what we thought:
Our room
Our room was comfortable and luxurious. Our favourite part was the elephant mugs (available throughout our stay and to purchase from the gift-shop afterwards). We also loved the bath, it was cleverly formed to be very comfortable, and even had a foot-shaped hole.
We also had the most beautiful orchid in our bathroom:
In almost all Asian hotels we've been welcomed with a complimentary drink, but the Rachamankha took this a step further: they welcome guests with a drink of their choice from the bar:
we went for a Chang and a Sprite :) |
The pool
The Rachamankha boasts a beautiful, outdoor, 20 metre pool. Drinks and light snacks are available throughout the day here.
A lot of outdoor pools in Asia are freezing cold, but the Rachamankha's pool is the perfect temperature - cool enough to cool off in, but not so cold you need to get out immediately!
We spent a perfect afternoon by this pool, alternating between lounging, reading and swimming.

The library
Speaking of reading, one of our absolute favourite things about the Rachamankha was the library! It was perfect, with over 2,000 books and a relaxing atmosphere with comfy chairs and refreshments.
The hardest thing about this library was choosing a book to read! They had lots of our favourite authors, and many non-fiction books too - including travel guides!
There are also two computers here for guests to use, along with fresh water and brandy!

The grounds
One of the other things that we loved about the Rachamankha was the grounds, with everything decorated in a traditional Thai way and it's all so darling! We enjoyed a leisurely walk through the grounds and it was lovely to see all the hidden courtyards and gardens.
The breakfast
Breakfast was delicious, and the choice was extensive: cereals with milk or yoghurt, salads, crepes, pancakes, French toast, Omelette, Eggs Benedict/boiled/scrambled/fried, waffles, rice soup, seasonal fruit or egg fried rice.

It was all delicious, but the French toast and pancakes were particularly delectable.
Nearby sites
Rachamankha Hotel is in a prime location with four notable temples within walking distance.
Our favourite was Wat Chedi Luang which was completed in the 15th century!
It's also very easy to reach other 'must dos' in Chiang Mai from the Rachamanka, such as the Night Market and the Sunday Market.
